My big news for the week — hernia surgery. Yeah, it was loads of fun.
I’ve been bothered by an inguinal hernia for a couple years now, we finally decided now was the time to get it done. The procedure went smoothly enough, but now I’m looking at 4+ weeks before resuming normal activities. Fortunately I do expect to be back to playing ultimate, soccer, basketball, as well as hunting, yardwork, all that fun stuff when this is all done.
I’m moving slow but it’s going okay. I decided the worst part is the narcotic pain-killers they put me on — been giving me crazy dreams and I haven’t slept well. So no more of that. Hopefully ibuprofin will keep me from here on out…
Doesn’t sound like much fun at all. Speedy recovery to you!
Didn’t I have that? I only remember the orange flavored anesthesia they gave me. Here here on the narcotics – hate them.
I hope you get lots of love from your family and this is the last surgery you have for a long time!
Had my inguinal hernia surgery 4 days ago. While there is more swelling in the area than I had anticipated, just not sure whether that is normal. Lots of bruising too. Believe that’s normal. Stopped all meds after 48 hours. What I would like to know is what I need to watch out for so I don’t do something dumb to re-injure myself. Simple thing like getting in and out of bed has been tough although walking around is easy. Your thoughts?
Yep, Dana had that surgery as a kid. And things are always easier as a kid – younger body, no responsibilities. But glad you’re fixed.
